Longtime UFC veteran and top ranked middleweight contender Derek Brunson was released from his UFC contract in September.
Now he has signed a contract to join the roster at the PFL and compete in the promotion’s $1 million light heavyweight tournament in 2024. That’s according to his manager Ali Abdelaziz.
“New kid on the block. Blonde Brunson 2.0. Million dollar tournament incoming,” Brunson wrote on social media.

Brunson was announced to fight against Roman Dolidze at UFC 295 in November, however, he found himself released from his contract in September for unknown reasons.
During his long UFC career, Brunson tested himself against top level opponents like Jared Cannonier, Israel Adesanya, Anderson Silva and Robert Whittaker.
His most notable wins came against Darren Till, Lyoto Machida, Uriah Hall and Kevin Holland.
