25-year-old Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) is one of boxing’s most talked-about stars. Now it looks like he plans a move to MMA. The opponent he has in mind is the UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley.
“I know I’m going to knock him out in boxing, that’s not even fair. What is fair is to test myself in MMA because I know if I put my mind to it and I trained every day, and I had Nate [Diaz] helping me, even Alex Pereira, all of them, and I really locked in, he will not beat me,” Garcia said of fighting O’Malley when visiting The MMA Hour.
“I will come with everything I have and I will destroy Sean O’Malley. In the UFC.”
Ryan Garcia: “I’ve already sent text messages to Dana”
Ryan Garcia seems serious about moving to MMA – for the right price of course.
“I’ve already sent text messages to Dana,” Garcia said. “I’ve already got people that are connected to Dana to ask him, let’s do this. I’ll come to UFC, pay me a bag, I’m there. I’m down to do it after Devin Haney. “All I know is, Dana, hit me back, I’m trying to beat Sean O’Malley’s ass.”
Garcia is to face Devin Haney next on Saturday 20th April 2024. The boxing bout will take place at Barclays Center, New York. In his last fight the 25-year-old was stopped by Gervonta Davis in April 2023.
