On Saturday June 3 undefeated Claressa Shields (13-0) puts her WBA, WBC, WBF, WBO and IBF middleweight titles on the line as she will take on Maricela Cornejo (16-5) at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist Shields was originally scheduled to face opponent Hanna Gabriels, who was removed from the card on Thursday due to results from a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test earlier in May.
No. 1 ranked contender Maricela “La Diva” Cornejo stepped in as a replacement against the undefeated Shields.
“I told my team to get me the best,” the 28-year-old Shields said about her short-notice opponent.
