Former ONE welterweight world champion Zebaztian Kadestam is about to face one of the most hyped fighters out there, as he will face fellow KO artist Roberto Soldic on May 5.
In a new video by Frontkick’s sister site Maximum Sports, “The Bandit” opens up on both his upcoming opponent and on his own future as a fighter in ONE Championship.
“He’s a good boxer, likes to put on pressure a lot and has many wins by knockout. Hopefully he won’t wrestle so we can have a fun fight.”
Soldic is a former double KSW middleweight and welterweight champion, who has a bunch of highlight knockouts to his name.
“He’s one of the most hyped and wanted free agents after he left KSW. He’s got a lot of hype surrounding him, and I will knock his head off and steal that hype.
Zebaztian Kadestam: “Best fight I’ve had in ONE so far”
Fighting in ONE for the last six years, the Swedish KO artist fought a bunch of tough opponents in the promotion, including MMA star Ben Askren. However, talking to Maximum Sports, he claimed that Soldic is an even bigger fight than Askren.
“It’s the best fight I’ve had in ONE so far. If you look at names, maybe Ben Askren [would have been the best], but this fight is bigger. Ben Askren was just a good wrestler and grappler, you know. Soldic is well-rounded.”
The Swede has back-to-back first-round KO wins against Valmir da Silva Barbosa and Iuri Lapicus, and with a win against the hyped Croatian finisher, he will for sure be the name on everyone’s lips.
“When I get the win, we will have some momentum and that will open up things for me. I have two fights left on my contract. If it continues like this I won’t re-sign with ONE. Then we will move on. We take this fight and the next, and then we will move on and check what more there is, if they (ONE) don’t want to play ball.”
