Big changes made to MMA’s unified rules

On its annual conference, the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) recently passed two significant rule changes in MMA’s unified rules. The changes will impact MMA fights in the future.
Both changes were passed in a unanimous vote by the association, and will be implemented immediately. Check out the two rule changes below!

Fighters will be allowed five minutes for eye poke recovery
From now on, fighters will get up to five minutes to recover from a eye poke before the referee and doctor takes a decision if the fight will go on or be stopped.
In other words, exactly the same procedur as with a groin strike foul.
Neoprene-type sleeves to cover knees and ankle joints will be allowed
A MMA fighter can use soft neoprene-type sleeves to cover only the knee or ankle joints. The sleeves may not have padding, velcro, plastic, metal, ties, or any kind of materials that’s unsafe or creates an unfair advantage.
All sleeves must be black in color, with the exception of matching the athletes commission-assigned corners with the sleeves being blue or red, or colored as appropriate.
