Reports: Ranked UFC fighter announces retirement due to ‘health problems’

UFC fighter Damir Ismagulov is reported to have retired from MMA. The No. 12 ranked lightweight recently announced his decision on social media.
“Unfortunately, due to circumstances and health problems, I am forced to end my sports career. Thanks to all those who were with me regardless of the outcome in the battles, who were sincerely sick and worried. It was an interesting journey, a moment to remember. Give everyone a hug.” (Translation by MMA Mania)
His announcement comes less than one month after he lost against Arman Tsarukyan via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 66. That was Ismagulov’s first loss of his UFC career.

Damir Ismagulov is the former M-1 Global lightweight champion
Damir Ismagulov signed with the UFC in 2018 and made his promotional debut against Alex Gorgees on December 2. He won the fight via unanimous decision.
During his successful UFC run he fought fighters like Rafael Alves, Thiago Moisés and Guram Kutateladze.
Before signing with the UFC, Ismagulov was the M-1 Global lightweight champion and defended the title twice.
