Swedish flyweight Amir Malekpour is set for his biggest fight to date as he will fight for the Cage Warriors’ flyweight interim belt in his next bout!
Malekpour has quickly established himself as a top dog in the Cage Warriors flyweight division. He is currently undefeated in the promotion with three straight wins, five in total.
In his first two fights in the Cage Warriors he found the finish. In his most recent outing, he fought a gruelling battle against Tom Creasey. The Swede stood as the winner via majority decision after three very tough and bloody rounds.
Malekpour will face Frenchman Nicolas Leblond at Cage Warriors 174 on July 20 in London. LeBlond was booked to take on flyweight champion Shajidul Haque in a fight for the belt, but Haque had to cancel the bout due to an injury. LeBlond and Malekpour will now have the chance to secure the interim belt and the next title shot in Cage Warriors.
Leblond was last in the cage on April 20th when he finished Scott Malone in the first round. He is currently on a winning streak of four straight finishes, three of which have been in Cage Warriors.
Leblond vs Malekpour will not be the only fight where Sweden is represented. Alexander Lööf will also participate in CW’s very first prizefighter tournament. Lööf may fight twice on the same night, for a chance to win the prize pool of 50,000 dollars. Lööf’s first opponent has already been revealed!
The same card also sees Norway-based Swede Camilla Bergström take on Eimear Darcy. The bout will be Bergström’s debut as a professional after eight amateur fights in Cage Warriors Academy South East (CWSE) and elsewhere.
Not only that, but five days later Robin Roos will make his CW debut as he challenges Italian Dario Bellandi for the middleweight title.
