Swedish UFC sensation Khamzat Chimaev remains in Grozny, Chechnya. His health is now back to normal following his struggle with covid-related complications, but he’s still taking it easy in training since he’s fasting during Ramadan.
”I’m taking it slowly now, training one time a day. When Ramadan is over I’ll start training hard again as usual. You know how we train, four or five sessions a day, brother. I train harder than anyone in the whole world,” Khamzat Chimaev said in an interview with Frontkick.online.
We’ve seen you train extremely hard before you got sick, and even afterwards when your health wasn’t at 100 %. Have you decided to change anything in your training regimen, maybe to avoid overtraining?
”No, I don’t change anything in my training. I just want to push hard everyday. My coach, my managers, everybody say ”no, rest, rest, rest!” But I can’t help it. I’m going into beast mode during my training in the same way as I do in my fights. That’s why I smash all my opponents.”

Many fans got excited when talks about a possible matchup between Chimaev and MMA icon Nick Diaz started to surface seemingly out of nowhere. However, some weren’t as keen on the idea.
Diaz’ manager, Kevin Mubenga, recently shut down the proposed fight claiming Chimaev ’hasn’t earned the right to a mega-fight vs. Nick Diaz’.
Chimaev’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, on the other hand, stated that it would be ’criminal’ and that he ’should be jailed’ if he green-lighted the matchup since he believes Chimaev is just too dangerous for Diaz.
You wanted the Nick Diaz fight, but both your managers said no to the bout. Who are you looking to fight in August now?
”I don’t know brother,” Chimaev said while considering the question.
”Maybe Neil Magny, If he wins on Saturday I can fight against him. But I don’t care, I’ll fight anyone. I’ll kill everybody.”

Magny, who is currently ranked at No. 9 in the welterweight rankings, will take on No. 10 ranked Geoff Neal on this Saturday’s UFC card in Las Vegas. He and Chimaev have previously been calling each other out and trash talked each other on social media, which even escalated to the point of Magny threatening to ’slap’ Chimaev on site next time he sees him in person.
