IN ENGLISH: Khamzat Chimaev hospitalized: ”Thought he was going to die”

Following the unfortunate news that Khamzat Chimaev had to cancel his much-anticipated main event bout against Leon Edwards once again, there’s been some questions online regarding the legitimacy of Chimaev’s reasoning for pulling out. How can he still suffer from covid-related complications when he got sick all the way back in November?

Frontkick.online has been following the development behind the scenes and can now reveal further details of the living hell that Chimaev has endured in recent days, as well as provide exclusive footage.

Simply put, Khamzat Chimaev undoubtably tried his best to push through in training despite severe symptoms. But as his team had to call an ambulance and Chimaev got hospitalized, it became clear that fighting on March 13 was going to be an impossibility.

”We are his support system,” Chimaev’s manager Majdi Shammas is heard saying speaking to Chimaev’s teammate and mentor, UFC veteran Reza ”Mad Dog” Madadi, in Frontkick’s latest video on YouTube.

Khamzat Chimaev was diagnosed with bronchitis

Frontkick’s reporter Johnathon Michael sat down with Shammas on Friday to speak further on the situation.

”We tried to come back [to training] this Tuesday. He insisted that he wanted to train. Then we tried – and it failed. He was really bad, you know? He didn’t even do two rounds straight, he did one round and then rested. He started coughing, started feeling ill again and we had to cancel the training. He even went with an ambulance to the hospital,” Shammas recalled.

Shammas explained that he is setting up a CT scan for Chimaev. He also revealed that Chimaev called him from the hospital.

”He thought he was going to die,” Shammas said.

Our reporter also spoke to Andreas Michael, head coach at Allstars Training Center in Sweden. According to Michael, Chimaev was recently diagnosed with bronchitis.

”We had to put him on antibiotics for ten days,” Michael explains.
