Finnish MMA fighter Henri Lintula is one of the welterweights to compete for the hefty $50,000 cash prize in the second edition of Cage Warriors PrizeFighter.

The one-night tournament will go down in Glasgow on September 7, and features six tough fighters who are ready to step into the cage twice in one night.

“It’s been a long time since I have done that and never in the pro ranks,” Lintula tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview. “To be honest I’m not really looking forward to it as it’s going to be a really tough night, but it is what it is.”

The Finnish 33-year-old enters the tournament with an old-school prize fighter mentality.

“Fighting twice in the same night is definitely a challenge, but what got me interested is the $50,000.”

Henri Lintula takes on feared KO artist

The Finnish grappling specialist will take on lethal KO artist and Cage Warriors veteran Omiel Brown in the opening fight in Glasgow. The fight has all the intrigue of a classic grappler vs. striker, and is perhaps the most interesting bout of the tournament.

“I had seen some of his previous fights and he’s a tricky southpaw with heavy hands”, Lintula says about his British opponent. “All my focus is on him and not worrying too much about the final.”

What’s the difference in training for a tournament like this compared to a regular fight?

“I think the only difference is that we just found out who we were fighting. So we have only a couple weeks to prepare for that certain style and work on the game plan. Other than that, it’s business as usual.”

What it takes to fight Robin Roos again

Back in 2019, Lintula faced Swedish powerhouse Robin “Pretty Boy” Roos at FCR 5 and was able to stop the Swede via an impressive first-round submission.

Five years later, on July 25, 2024, Roos challenged for the Cage Warriors middleweight strap in his first fight in the promotion.

Would you be up for giving Roos a rematch?

“Yes, I have been following his fights a little bit since our fight. He would be a tough opponent and it would be a good fight, but to get me really interested in it would have to be something like a PrizeFighter tournament or title bout.”
