This week, former lightweight rivals Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson opened up to coach the next season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. Ferguson first spoke about the idea on Monday’s episode of “The MMA Hour”, and recently Nurmagomedov confirmed that he is up for the task.
“I like this idea, honestly,” Khabib told ESPN. “I like this idea. If me and Tony are going to be ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ coaches, I think they can create some good content, if they’re interested.”
Khabib Nurmagomedov: “We have to finish our business”
The Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson matchup was one of the most wanted fights in the history of the UFC. The rivals were scheduled to fight on no less than five different occasions, but each and every time, the fight got canceled. Knee injuries, lung issues, illness and travel restrictions due to COVID-19, all came in the way for the haunted bout.
And now, maybe the fans will finally have a chance to see the rivals compete – as coaches for ‘The Ultimate Fighter’.
“Dana, we have to finish two business, Islam Makhachev and ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. Please call me back, brother,” Khabib said to ESPN. “Because if you don’t call me back, I’m going to be in Vegas in June. Then you’ll have to send me a message with your location. Be careful, Dana. We have to finish our business.”
