Georgian MMA prospect Levan “Piranha” Kirtadze is up for a big task on June 1 as he will take on Tobias Harila in the main event of Fight Club Rush 20
The Georgian fighter is confident going to Harila’s home turf, to spoil the Swedish MMA star’s grand homecoming at ABB Arena in Västerås.
“I feel very calm and I’m just focused on the fight,” Kirtadze tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview. “It’s not my first time to fight in a main event. I’m just very happy to have an important fight in front of such an audience.”
Sporting a 13-3 record, with seven wins via stoppage, the Georgian top prospect is a formidable opponent for anyone. Most of his wins have come in local promotions, but he also tested himself in BRAVE CF.
Harila, who’s found success in Cage Warriors, has hinted at a retirement after FCR 20. That is, however, nothing Kirtadze thinks twice about in his preparations for the fight.
“It’s his decision and his will. I’m just coming to finish my job.”
Levan Kirtadze: “We have fighting in our blood”
Georgian MMA is definitely on the rise internationally. In the UFC, fighters like Giga Chikadze, Guram Kutateladze and Merab Dvalishvili are regarded as top fighters in their respective weight classes, while Georgian-Spanish featherweight Ilia Topuria won the UFC title earlier this year.
Kirtadze’s teammate and friend, Nika Kalandadze, is also set for a tough bout at Fight Club Rush 20. He will take on Swedish fan favorite, and hometown hero, Zoran Milic in a flyweight bout.
Why are Georgian MMA fighters so successful right now?
“We have fighting in our blood due to our history. That’s why it’s fun for us. We are a fighting nation.”
