Former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson just faced Michael Chiesa in a welterweight bout at UFC on ABC 7 in Abu Dhabi.
After a feeling out process in the first two minutes, the two southspaws started to trade on the feet. After two min, Chiesa found Ferguson’s back and was looking for a rear-naked-choke. Ferguson tried to defend but was eventually forced to tap.
“I don’t want to retire. But I love the UFC and I don’t want to go anywhere else. So, I’m not going to put both gloves down. I’m going to put one. I’m going to keep the other one just in case,” Ferguson said after the fight.
Tony Ferguson had a tough couple of years
Ferguson entered the fight on a seven-fight losing skid. Even though the losses came against accomplised fighters like Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler, Beneil Dariush and Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira, many fans and experts thinks it’s time for “El Cucuy” to hang up the gloves for good.
Ferguson debuted as a pro fighter in 2008, and has been with the UFC since he won TUF 13 in 2011.
