Undefeated Swedish pro boxer Robin Safar is up for the toughest task of his pro career. On Saturday he will take on Sergey Kovalev in a light heavyweight bout.
The fight will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk.
”I’m so happy to be a part of this event,” Safar said at the recent press conference. ”I can’t really describe how excited I am. And to be able to fight a name like Sergey Kovalev, and basically having my breakthrough at a moment like this, you know, it couldn’t be better.”
The Russian veteran held multiple light-heavyweight world championships, including the WBA and IBF titles from 2014 to 2016, and the WBO title three times between 2013 and 2019. The 32-year-old Swede, however, is confident he got what it takes to beat Kovalev and get international recognition.
”I’ve been sweating a lot. I’ve been bleeding a lot. I’ve been sacrificing a lot in my life so I feel it’s like my time right now. My time to shine.”
