Reigning champion Aitana Alvarez is more than ready for her first title defense – against seasoned UFC veteran Viviane Pereira at Superior Challenge 29.

Superior Challenge bantamweight champion Aitana “Pitbull” Alvarez made a big impression by finishing former Bellator fighter Alejandra Lara in the first round in their title fight earlier this year.

Now, an even more accomplished opponent awaits in Viviane Pereira – who has previously competed in both the UFC and Invicta FC – as Alvarez prepares for her first title defense in Superior Challenge.

”My approach remains similar to my other fights: someone in front of me coming for what’s mine. We’ve known about this fight for a while; we’ve put in the hard work to get the win on November 29. She’s a top name to have my first defence against.”

What excites you the most about this fight?

”For a good comeback to the cage after half a year adapting to the bantamweight division and taking care of myself.

Aitana Alvarez: ”Not my first time facing worldwide ranked fighters”

Viviane Pereira has faced several elite fighters in the UFC over the years – including top-ranked strawweights Tatiana Suarez and Yan Xiaonan, who later went on to challenge Zhang Weili for the UFC title.

But the fact that Pereira has competed at the highest level doesn’t intimidate the Superior Challenge champion – quite the opposite. Aitana Alvarez has faced a number of highly accomplished fighters over the years, including OKTAGON MMA standouts Veronika Smolkova and Lucia Szabova.

”It’s not my first time facing worldwide ranked fighters or fighters that had fought big names in the scene,” Alvarez says. ”It’s always a pleasure to share cage with them and measure my position in the international stage.”

If everything goes your way on November 29, what’s next for you?

”For now, I’m remaining calm and positive. I’m working hard, and that’s what now matters for me, to keep evolving. Let’s see what comes after getting this win!
