In English: Superior Challenge 28: Aleksandra Toncheva looks to fulfill her title dream

Aleksandra Toncheva is ready to make history on Swedish soil when she challenges Swedish MMA talent Nina Back for the strawweight title at Superior Challenge 28 on May 31 – an event that offers a loaded fight card with as many as four titles at stake!

This is a fight Toncheva has been waiting for.

She and Back were initially scheduled to meet at the Battle of Botnia earlier this year, but when the event was canceled on short notice, it was unclear what would be next for Toncheva and Back.

– We were supposed to meet on April 26 at Battle of Botnia, Toncheva tells Frontkick.

– When I heard the bad news that the event had been canceled, I was in the middle of preparations, my favorite weeks. I was disappointed and maybe a little mad, but I understood the situation. These things happen, and it’s not pleasant, not even for the organizers themselves.

Luckily, it wouldn’t take long before things turned out for the better.

– When my managers were planning another match, I was approached by Superior Challenge to take this title bout against Nina, and we both agreed. I think it will be an excellent matchup for everyone!

Superior Challenge 28 will be Toncheva’s first match in Sweden, something she is looking forward to with excitement. Although she has never competed on Swedish soil before, she is well acquainted with Swedish fighters, having met many of them during her successful amateur career.

– Ever since I competed in IMMAF, the Swedes have impressed me as favorites in the rankings. There, I have met several great people – Swedish fighters and their coaches. I’m happy to have the opportunity to make an appearance on Swedish soil, and I believe in their fair play and refereeing.

Competing at international events is nothing new for Toncheva, who has previously fought in organizations such as Bellator, Rizin, and KSW. But according to her, it doesn’t matter where the fight takes place – her preparation is always her main priority.

– No matter where I fight and against whom, I always give one hundred percent of myself in preparation and focus on the individual parts to the max.

Superior Challenge 28: Nina Back vs Aleksandra Toncheva

When it comes to her opponent Nina Back, Aleksandra Toncheva is clear: it’s about respect, but also making up for previous missed title opportunities

Unfortunately, canceled title bouts have become a recurring theme for the Bulgarian, but now she is looking to return to her home country with the gold around her waist.

– I have always wanted to compete for a title. Unfortunately, two title fights have fallen through over the years. When it’s a title fight, the motivation is greater, but so is the pressure. I would be very happy if I could bring the belt to Bulgaria, and I will work hard to make this dream come true!

She is very well aware of Nina Back from before and knows that she will have to perform at her best to secure the win.

– Nina Back has quite a solid experience, both as an amateur and as a professional. I noticed her talent already in IMMAF. She is a complex fighter who is dangerous on the ground. She is an interesting opponent. I think we have a lot to offer the audience.

Although a win could open many new doors in the sport, Toncheva refuses to think beyond the fight in front of her.

– Right now, my sole focus is on the upcoming title fight. I never think that far ahead when I already have a real goal in front of me. I want to thank Superior Challenge for the opportunity and wish Nina and me good health. I hope we avoid any injuries during the preparations!

Superior Challenge 28 takes place on May 31 at Annexet in Stockholm and offers a series of high-profile title bouts topped by a fight for the bantamweight title between Superior champion Bartosz Wojcikiewicz and UFC veteran Marco Beltran.

Bartosz “The Destoyer” is the reigning featherweight champion but is now aiming to become Superior Challenge’s first ever double champion. The undercard features a series of exciting A-class fights, including two title bouts between four of Sweden’s top talents.

In the main event of the prelims, we see Oscar Lövgren and Linus Jönsson fight for the vacant welterweight title, and in the co-main event, Randy Fungula and Anton Ringvall clash in a fight for the lightweight title.

For Aleksandra Toncheva, however, the night is all about one thing: winning the Superior title and finally getting a reward for all her sacrifices.

On May 31, she will have the chance at Superior Challenge 28!
