Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
A Santa Clara County judge granted the former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez bail on Tuesday, after a two-day pre-trial hearing.
Velasquez has been jailed for more than eight months while he faces charges, including attempted murder.
“This incident is extremely serious but appears to be isolated behavior by Mr. Velasquez,” Judge Arthur Bocanegra said. “There is also a viable heat of passion defense.”
Terms of the release include GPS monitoring and a 1 million dollar bail, as well as a protective order to stay a minimum of 300 yards from the alleged victims.

Cain Velasquez will go home after eight months
Mark Geragos, Velasquez’s defense attorney, had requested bail three times before with no success until yesterday’s hearing.
”We’re gratified, and he’ll be able to go home and start the healing process,” Gergaos said, according to NBC Bay Area. ”It’s been a long slog, and after eight months he’s finally going home.”
In total, Velasquez faces ten counts in his case, including premeditated attempted murder, which if he gets convicted potentially could lead to a life sentence.
