Former UFC champion Charles Oliveira wants another shot for lightweight gold.
However, MMA fans who hoped to see him fight Islam Makhacev at UFC 294 in October will be disappointed.
“So I’m going to be honest with you, we don’t have nothing yet,” Oliveira recently told TSM. “They are still waiting but to be honest October, it’s too soon for me. It’s too soon, especially if the fight’s going to be [in Abu Dhabi].
The Brazilian lightweight will have to wait at least a month longer to return to action.
“I’m really going to be ready in November/December but October is too soon. But we don’t have nothing yet.”
“I’m a UFC employee so I just need to wait. For me, it doesn’t matter.”

Charles Oliveira fought Makhachev in 2022
Charles ”do Bronx” Oliveira faced Islam Makhachev for the vacant UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 280 this past October, but fell short to a second-round submission.
The loss was the former champion’s first in 11 fights. In his last outing, the Brazilian faced the dangerous Beneil Dariush and stopped him in the first round with a massive TKO.
Makhachev rides an impressive 12-fight winning streak and comes from a title defense against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 in February.
