On Saturday, two-time undisputed world champion Claressa Shields will defend her WBC, IBF and WBA middleweight titles against British WBO titleholder Savannah Marshall. The historic boxing event, being the first-ever all-female card in UK’s history, takes place at The O2 in London.
The grudge match between Shields and Marshall was originally scheduled for September 10, but was postponed following Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8.
”The postponement was like a blessing in disguise. The goal is even bigger now, from September to now. I knew I was going to beat Savannah Marshall on September 10, but now I really feel in my spirit that I am going to knock Savannah Marshall out, this is going to be my statement fight,” Shields recently told Sky Sports.

The British world champion , however, seemed to have the opposite feeling towards the postponement.
”All the emotion of fight week, the fight actually getting cancelled, so I felt emotionally drained and I didn’t get out of bed for a couple of days after, so I really needed that week to just kind of forget about boxing,” Marshall told Sky Sports.
However, the Brit is the only boxer who ever defeated Shields, as an amateur back in 2012, and now she knows she needs to deliver in the biggest fight of her career.
”I can’t allow myself to overlook this fight, to overlook Claressa,” Marshall told Sky Sports about Saturday’s title bout. ”Even if there’s a rematch, I’ll never get a fight as big as this, ever. Ever.”
