Khamzat Chimaev established himself as a proper superstar in the UFC after defeating no 2. ranked Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 last month.
The Swede now has eleven straight wins in his professional career, and earned a top 3 placement in the official UFC rankings after the impressive victory against ”Durinho”.
But where does Khamzat Chimaev go from here? Andreas Michael seems to have an idea.
Speaking on The MMA Hour, the Allstars head coach reveals that he thinks ”Borz” should be facing controversial top welterweight Colby Covington next.
“I would like to see him fight Colby. Colby would be a good fight. We’re after fighting the best, and Colby’s the next step up, and we keep on going. … We should fight the best, and if we’re not good enough to be there, then we shouldn’t be there. That’s how I think. Because right now it doesn’t get easier,” Andreas Michael says.
According to Michael, a victory over Covington should mean that Khamzat Chimaev’s next fight will be a title shot.
“At the end of the day I hope that we get Colby and then with God’s help we win that fight then you say we get the winner of Usman vs. Leon,” Michael says.
