During his successful career, superstar Conor McGregor faced several UFC champions including José Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, and Khabib Nurmagomedov. He also faced former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier three times – as well as boxed the undefeated four-division world champion Floyd Mayweather.

However, during a recent Q&A on Twitter, “The Notorious” revealed that none of them are his toughest opponent to date.

According to McGregor, it’s his longtime rival Nate Diaz that is the toughest fighter he ever fought.

Conor McGregor faced Nate Diaz twice in 2016

Back in 2016, after winning the featherweight belt, ”The Notorious” McGregor was supposed to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title. However, since RDA was forced to pull out due to an injury, Nate Diaz stepped in on short notice, and shocked everyone but himself, when defeated the Irishman with a second-round submission.

In the highly anticipated rematch a few months later, the Irish superstar was able to win a hard-fought majority decision to settle the score.

Since his octagon comeback in 2018, McGregor is 1-3 with his only win coming against veteran Donald ”Cowboy” Cerrone.
