Champions Amanda Serrano and Erika Cruz just clashed in a gruelling fight at MSG’s Hulu Theater, to determine who would become the undisputed featherweight world champion.
Serrano had a slow start against the relentless Cruz, but battled her way into the fight and eventually won their 10-round title unification bout by unanimous decision, with 98-92, 98-92, 97-93 on the scorecards.
With the massive victory, Serrano defended her IBF, IBO, WBC and WBO featherweight titles – and won the WBA 126-pound championship from Cruz – to become the first Puerto Rican undisputed champion in boxing history.
”So now I am one of the undisputed champions but I am still the only seven weight class world champions in the world,” Serrano said post-fight.
