Muhammad Mokaev and Jafel Filho clashed at UFC 286
The outcome of the prelims fight between Muhammad Mokaev and Jafel Filho is still debated by MMA fans and experts.
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Filho claimed that he felt his opponent tap at least three times during the fight.
“I felt him tapping on my back like he was hiding, with malice. There was another situation I went for the guillotine and then attacked his injured shoulder, he tapped and I loosened it up a little bit,” Filho said.
In the third round, the Brazilian flyweight secured a knee bar that seemed to end the fight, however, Mokaev miraculously survived.
“I was looking at the referee the entire time. The kneebar, I felt him tapping with his foot and the referee asked him, ‘Tap?’ I loosened it, and he was able to twist his knee a little bit.”
Filho also revealed that his manager Andre Pederneiras is reviewing the video to decide if they will file an appeal and attempt to overturn the result of the fight.

Visiting The MMA Hour, Muhhammad Mokaev gives his take on the debated situation and stated that he would never give up in a fight.
“I’ll never tap. I know it’s a crazy thing to say. I will go to sleep. They break my arm,” Mokaev said. ”If they don’t stop, I will never tap, even if I end my career that way.”
The young prospect hopes that the knee is not severely damaged for the submission attempt.
“It swelled up and I’ve done the MRI and I’m just kind of waiting on the results and hoping it’s all good, because I want to be the youngest UFC champion.”
