After thirteen fights in the UFC, 41-year-old former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm has inked a new six-fight deal with the promotion.

At Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 43 media day, ”The Preacher’s Daughter” revealed that before signing the new contract, she was uncertain about her future as a fighter.

“I was hopeful we could still come to an agreement and be able to continue to my career with the UFC, so I’m very, very happy to have that contract signed. My mind is of course just on this fight ahead of me, but I’m happy to continue my journey with the UFC,” Holm said.

Holly Holm: ”It’s a scary kind of path”

On Saturday night, she fights in the co-main event against former training partner Yana Santos.

With a win over Santos, No. 3 ranked Holm puts herself in a good position for a new shot at the bantamweight title.

And that’s exactly what she’s aiming for.

”If you don’t want to be the champion, what are you doing here? It’s a scary kind of path to take because you know that means you have to take the toughest fights, the biggest fights to be successful. That’s where all that pressure comes in on you. But if I’m going to be here, I want to do it all the way,” Holm said.

The 41-year-old made her promotional debut in February 2015, and after just two fights she challenged Ronda Rousey for the bantamweight gold in November the same year.

With a sensational TKO, Holly Holm became the second woman to win the bantamweight UFC strap.
