MMA World Championships day 4: Three Swedes through to the finals!
Six Swede’s entered the cage today in the semifinals at the 2023 IMMAF World Championships in Tirana, Albania.
The World Championships will take place between Monday November 20 to Saturday November 25. Sweden is represented by an interesting National team featuring 10 fighters – three female and seven male – competing in ten weight divisions.

Millie Eriksson leaves no doubt in rematch

Millie Eriksson was set to rematch Sani Brannfors of Finland in the semifinals. They met earlier this year at CAGE with Brannfors winning a close decision after three competitive rounds.
The first round was a good one for Eriksson who landed a slew of brutal knees in the clinch. In the second round Brannfors took a clear lead by landing takedown and chasing a rear naked choke finish for about half the round.

Hanna Palmqvist wins three round war

Gothenburgs Hanna Palmqvist faced off against England’s Chloe Gowen.
Palmqvist utilised her length and reach to keep her opponent at bay, landing a heavy right hand several times.

Sahand Shokohi gets tough loss against the Asian champion

Following three straight walkovers Sweden’s Sahand Shokohi was finally set to compete and did so against the reigning Asian champion Arkom Uzakov. Shokohi got an early takedown but was reversed and ended up in bottom position, taking smaller shots. In the beginning of the second round Uzakov threw a high kick that hurt Shokohi. While Shokohi did his best to recover Uzakov battered him with shots on the ground, finishing with an uppercut as the Swede was getting back up.

Najib Adams Morlah finished by the Asian champion

Allstars Naji Adams Morlah stiid for a great accomplishment yesterday in defeating two-time bronze medalist Dzevad Baltic via decision, he faced Kazakstans Alik Domnich, a 2022 Asian gold medalist, in the semifinals.
The light heavyweights wasted no time engaging on the feet, with Domnich connecting with a hellacious left hook, finishing Morlah.

Rafael Kveldstad set for World Championship final rematch!

Allstars own Rafael Kveldstad was pitted against Team Ukraine’s Yaroslav Shulha . Kveldstad went for a takedown early only to get stuck in a guillotine bout countered brilliantly with a Von Flue Choke, forcing his opponent to tap.
Now Kveldstad will rematch Czech Republics Tagir Machmudov in the World Championship finals for a second time. The first time Kveldstad lost a controversial split decision.

Sweden’s Astrid Vikgren was pitted against Brazil’s Guiliany Perea. The Swede began by landing a few shots on the feet only to be taken down and controlled for the duration of the first round. In the second she ate a heavy strike that visibly rocked her. After that Perea folowed up with shots, dropping Vikgren and ending the fight.
