Irene Aldana reveals secret weapon for Saturday’s title fight

Tomorrow night, Mexican fighter Irene Aldana is up for her biggest test to date as she will challenge the champion Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight strap.

In a new interview with Megan Olivi, she revealed what’s her most important weapon going into the massive title bout.

”The Mexican heart,” Aldana said. ”Definitely the Mexican heart and not going backwards, just always going forward and always looking to fight, always being pressing.”

The challenger is aware that the headline spot could be overwhelming but intends to enjoy the moment in the octagon.

”To stay focused and just to be there. If I’m there I’m ready to be there. The UFC wanted me to take this fight on short notice because they think I’m capable too and I do believe that.”

Champ: Irena Aldana a ”better fighter”

The reigning bantamweight champion sees Aldana as a bigger threat than her original opponent Julianna Pena, but has no doubt whatsover that she will come out victorious on Saturday.

“Honestly, I will stop her. No doubt in my mind,” Nunes said at the recent UFC 289 pre-fight press conference.

“This belt is Brazilian. This belt is mine. I’m completely ready for this fight. “She’s a better fighter than Julianna, for sure. She’s going to bring the challenge, and I’m ready for this battle. I’m more ready than ever. She’s going to bring the challenge, and I’m going to be ready to answer it. You guys have a great main event.”
