Kai Kara-France’s Saturday loss to Amir Albazi has been up for debate in the past few days.

Both fighters gave it all during five tough rounds, but many seemed to believe that Kai did enough to earn a decision win. However, after the final bell, Albazi stood as the winner via split decision.

On the new episode of The MMA Hour, the 30-year-old New Zealander opened up on his feelings following the tough setback.

“It’s a tough one when you’re looking at my career right now,” Kara-France said. “That cost me $100,000. That loss cost me my ranking, No. 3 in the world. You know, winning this fight would’ve put me right back in with probably [Brandon] Royval to fight for No. 1 contender. Puts me right back to where I want to be, which is the best in the world.”

“It’s a tough one when you look at it like that,” Kara-France said. “You take a step back and think what are these judges looking at?”

”The whole world knows who won but regardless we keep our head high and we keep moving forward. Appreciate all the love and support from everyone. Time for family and then we get back to work,” Kara-France wrote on Instagram.
