On Thursday, Khabib Nurmagomedov was inducted into the UFC Hall of fame as part of the 2022 class. The undefeated Dagestanian is widely considered to be the greatest lightweight of all time and had a incredible career as MMA pro.

And in his own mind there is no doubt what was the greatest moment of all.

“It was here, this arena, October 6, 2018,” Khabib said. “Biggest fight in MMA history. I’m very happy I win this fight. I can lose any of my fights. But no way this fight.”

The moment he is talking about is of course his monumental win over rival Conor McGregor at UFC 229. A bout that was surrounded by hype and controversy like no fight before or after.

Khabib Nurmagomedov paid respect to late father

At the cermony, Khabib also paid respect to his father and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who passed away two years ago. A man who had the greatest impact on ”The Eagle’s” career.

“I grew up in a very small village with a very poor life,” Khabib said. “My father, he bring us from village, he sold our house and he brings me, my brother, my cousins, it was almost like 15 people from village to capital city. He rented a very big house and we all was living together.”

”From this house comes six world champions, UFC champions, a lot of champions and very good people because father invested everything that we have.”
