Former champ Rafael dos Anjos returns to lightweight to face top ranked opponent

Former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will move down from welterweight for a fight in the lightweight division. He will face top ranked Mateusz Gamrot in a high profile 155 lbs fight on March 9 at UFC 299.

RDA comes from a welterweight loss to Vicente Luque. Despite not fighting at 155 lbs since July 2022, he’s still ranked at No. 11 in the division. Back in 2015, dos Anjos faced Anthony Pettis for the UFC lightweight title and won the bout via unanimous decision after a dominant performance.

No. 6 ranked Gamrot has back-to-back wins against Jalin Turner and Rafael Fiziev.
