The first-ever Swedish PFL MMA world champion Sadiboy Sy is set to return to the cage on April 14th.

Sy, who scored welterweight gold last season, will now fight former BRAVE CF champion Jarrah Al-Silawi as the promotion kicks off its 2023 regular season.

The welterweight showdown will serve as the PFL 3 co-main event. In the main event, former UFC fighter Shane Burgos will make his promotional debut against last year’s lightweight champ Olivier Aubin-Mercier.

Sadibou Sy on a roll following million-dollar win

Sadibou Sy is currently riding a four-fight win streak, including a decision victory against former UFC contender and Bellator champion Rory MacDonald. Most recently, ”The Swedish Denzel” scored a unanimous decision against Dilano Taylor to win the 2022 PFL welterweight championship and take home the $1,000,000 dollar price money.

Jarrah Al-Silawi is coming off a knockout loss to Magomed Umalatov. Prior to that, ”The Jordanian Lion” had won five in a row including two in PFL, one against UFC vet Gleison Tibau.

As BRAVE champ, Al-Silawi was actually scheduled to defend his belt against one Khamzat Chimaev back in 2020. However, the entire event got cancelled due to the corona virus outbreak. Chimaev ultimately went on to sign with the UFC shortly thereafter.
