[English] UFC veteran Marco Beltrán prepares for WAR in Superior Challenge title fight

Former UFC fighter and TUF contestant Marco Beltrán is set to make his Superior Challenge debut – and he’ll do so in the main event, where he’ll fight for the bantamweight title.

On May 31, Superior Challenge 28 takes place in Annexet, Stockholm, where Swedish featherweight champion Bartosz Wójcikiewicz makes the move down to bantamweight to face the Mexican veteran Marco ”Psycho” Beltrán.

The 37-year-old Mexican is an experienced fighter who first made a name for himself on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America and then competed in the UFC from 2014 to 2017.

The fact that Beltrán will now compete in Superior Challenge is a major moment for the Swedish MMA scene.

During his time in the world’s largest leading MMA organization, Beltrán racked up wins against names like future UFC title challenger Marlon Vera and shared the octagon with former UFC champion Deiveson Figueiredo, who competes in this weekend’s UFC main event.

After his UFC career, Beltrán continued to win fights in top international organizations, where he won the LUX Fight League bantamweight title after defeating Erick Ruano. He later lost the belt to Diego Lopes, who recently battled Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC title.

Now, Beltrán is setting his sights on Sweden and the Superior Challenge belt, a title that for many fighters has become a stepping stone to some of the world’s most prominent organizations.

– I’m very excited to have the opportunity to fight for a title in the Superior Challenge, Marco Beltran tells Frontkick. I’m excited for the chance to face a highly regarded opponent like Bartosz, and to do it in a beautiful country like Sweden.

For Beltrán, the belt means more than just a title – it’s also about cementing his legacy as a fighter.

– The Superior belt means a lot to me and my career… It will be another title for my legacy. I have fought for titles in South America and all over Europe. On May 31, I will also win this belt, just as I have won others.

– Winning the title will be a great satisfaction for me, as it’s part of my personal dreams and goals.

Superior Challenge 28: Bartosz Wójcikiewicz vs Marco Beltran

Marco Beltran faces a tough challenge in the form of Swedish combatant Bartosz Wójcikiewicz, who is coming off a title fight for the Superior Challenge title, where he defeated MMA veteran Araik Margaryan by decision.

Bartosz sees Beltran as a step towards realizing his dream of competing in the UFC, but Marco has his own dreams and ambitions.

The Mexican expects an entertaining, tactical, and brutal fight, but he knows that in the end, he will have the belt around his waist.

– I like Bartosz’s fighting style, and I think it fits very well with what I have to offer. In the end, it’s more about strategy than anything else.

– He’s a good opponent, but I’ve seen a couple of holes that I think I’ll be able to exploit. It’s going to be a good clash, and the ones who will enjoy it the most will be the crowd, because it’s going to be a war!

Swedish champion Bartosz Wójcikiewicz of Forca Fighting is in his best form ever, but Beltrán comes to Stockholm with plenty of experience, hunger, and a desire to recapture the spotlight.

It’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting fights of the year on Swedish soil – and perhaps one that could go down in Swedish MMA history.

Superior Challenge 28 and its undercard Superior Academy 3 will offer four title fights and a cavalcade of exciting pro and amateur bouts between some of Sweden’s hottest talents.
