Swedish kickboxer Vanessa Romanowski continues to rack up international wins.
This past Saturday she competed at the surging Polish organization Strike King 2 where she defeated Catarina Jorge from Portugal.
”It was so much fun. We fought with four ounce gloves so I felt really fast,” Romanowski tells Frontkick in an exclusive interview.
”Catarina was tough and threw hard low kicks. The fight went the distance but in the end I got 2-1 on the scorecards.”
The young Swede entered the fight with an injured shoulder, which stole some of her focus, but still got away with an impressive victory.
”I’ve been in Poland most of my camp and it’s been a lot of physiotherapy and needles and what not. But I got the win and made my coach and manager happy,” Romanowski smiles.
Romanowski spends her time between Sweden and Poland and competed at all of the Strike King events so far. The organization is not very known outside of the country but seem to have found their own niche.
”Strike King has very exclusive events. They got a bit of a Peaky Blinders theme with an old school dress code for the audicence. It’s so cool that the crowd is a part of the event in that way,” Romanowski says.
”The organization also picks unique locations for their events. Last time it was in a salt mine 250 meters underground. This time we fought in an old train factory. It’s more of a show than just fighting in a sweaty sports hall.”

Just as big as her recents wins is the fact that she’s teamed up with legendary former UFC strawweight champion, now manager, Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
”We have just started working together which I’m so grateful and happy about. Last summer, I trained at a camp she organized and when she saw me in action we started talking about my future. By the end of 2023 we decided to work together. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve looked up to her since I started fighting and I’m so proud she’s a part of my team.”
Jedrzejczyk is a huge star in Poland and a household name way outside the combat sports scene. Working with a manager like that can of course have a huge impact on the young Swede’s career.
”There is so much going on and I’m so grateful. My dreams are slowly but steadily coming true.”
