William Swärd defends his WFP title against Benjamin Hajijan: ”I had to dig deep”

Wolf Fight Promotion lightweight champion William Swärd just took on Benjamin Hajijan at WFP 9.

Hajijan dropped the champion with a solid punch early in the first round, but Swärd recovered well and put on heavy pressure.

In the second round, Hajijan took the fight to the ground, but Swärd was able to switch position and secured takedowns of his own. The referee took a point from Hajijan due to a fence grab.

Swärd used his solid boxing to set up a takedown in the third. After landing knees and punches in the clinch he took the fight to the ground again.

After the final bell, Swärd stood as the winner via unanimous decision with 29-27 on all the scorecards to become the first fighter to defend the WFP title.

”It’s my best fight so far, I had to dig deep,” Swärd said after the fight. ”I think we put on a show for everyone here and home.”

William Swärd recently signed with rising Swedish management Viracci Sport Management.

“I clicked with Andres Viracca from the start and we had good contact for quite some time,” Swärd told Frontkick. “Käftsmällspodden has supported me in my camps too, so when Andres started Viracci Sport Management he got in touch with me, and now we work together. He knows what I need and I think we will have a great exchange. It will be fun, he’s got good connections and will help me a lot.”
