Swedish MMA powerhouse Andreas “Bane” Gustafsson booked for upcoming FCR 16 event

Popular Swedish MMA standout Andreas “Bane” Gustafsson will return to fight on home soil next as he’ll enter compete at the upcoming FCR 16 event on June 3, the Västerås-based promotion recently announced on social media.

Gustafsson, who’s got a pro record of 8-1, recently scored an impressive first-round TKO finish against David Hosek in the KSW cage. Last november, he came out of retirement and scored a second-round stoppage win against Lukasz Dziudzia at FCR 14 after having been out of competition for two years.

“Bane” has mostly competed as a middleweight, but is now expected to move down to welterweight against an opponent yet to be determined.

FCR MMA promotor Zlatko Ostrogonac teases “more title fights”, Andreas Gustafsson not included right now

FCR MMA has already announced two other fighters for the FCR 16 show as both amateur bantamweight and TV personality Liam Pitts as well as professional middleweight fan-favorite Nabbe Malki were recently confirmed for the upcoming fight card.

And according to FCR MMA’s promotor Zlatko Ostrogonac, fans can a title-fight announcement soon.

“We’re working on putting on more title fights. We’ve got one that’s verbally agreed right now,” Ostrogonac told Frontkick’s sister site Maximum Sports, adding that Andreas Gustafsson is not necessarily expected to be fighting for the belt although he didn’t want to confirm any title contenders at this time.

Currently, bantamweight prospect Bernardo Sopai is the only reigning FCR MMA champion. According to Maximum Sports’ sources, the promotion is now looking into adding at least one new championship belt in another division as they’re targeting two title fights for the upcoming FCR 16 card.
