Andreas Gustafsson reacts to getting ‘Fight of the Year’ at UFC Fight Pass

The FCR 16 welterweight bout between Sweden’s Andreas Gustafsson and Finland’s Toni Lampinen was one of the absolute best fights of the year. The outstanding and bloody bout was recently awarded with the prestigious UFC Fight Pass 2023 Fight of the Year.
When Frontkick reaches out to Gustafsson for a comment he’s satisfied about being named the Fight of the Year.
“One has to be glad to be a bit happy sometimes,” Gustafsson jokes. “Nah, but it feels great that we got this award. Now we will just have to keep fighting as much as we can and hope that something bigger will come soon.”
The vicious war was also ranked No. 1 on Frontkick’s list of the best Swedish MMA fights in 2023.

The Fight Pass fans loves Andreas Gustafsson
On the commentary section in UFC’s Instagram post about the ‘Fight of the Year’, fight fans from all over the world were excited.
“We dream about fights like this,” one fan wrote.
“Real gladiator shit,” another fan wrote in the commentary section.
“What a fight! That’s definitely up their with Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald,” a MMA fan wrote.
“This gives me flash backs to Rory vs Robbie props to them tough,” one impressed fan wrote.
