Swedish strawweight Josefine Knutsson completely dominated her opponent Isis Verbeek at Dana White’s Contender Series 59 to win with 30-27 on all judges’ scorecards.
Knutsson started strong, firing off a quick and hard high kick that stunned her opponent. She completely dominated the fight over three rounds and won via a clear unanimous decision. However, despite a one-sided performance, the undefeated Swede did not earn a UFC contract.
In a new Instagram video, the strawweight comments on the situation.
“I got the win but I didn’t get the finish. I had like three-four moments in the fight where I could have finished my opponent, but I got too excited and rushed in, ending up clinching or takedown and grappling. So I definitely need to improve this.”
“It’s going to be so hard to find new opponents after this fight, with this type of high class striker like my opponent and I’m going to take your words home with me Dana White, and keep working harder, keep improving what I need to improve and I want to say thank you for this amazing opportunity for me being in the Contender Series. I know that I belong in the UFC, and Dana White; next time you see me I’m gonna prove you wrong.”
