Dana White’s Contender Series 59 takes place on Tuesday August 22 at the UFC Apex and features a bunch of interesting prospects competing for a spot in the world’s premier MMA organization.

Among the most talented fighters on the card is undefeated Swedish strawweight Josefine “Thunder” Knutsson who takes on Neatherland’s Isis Verbeek.

Knutsson is 5-0 as a professional MMA fighter and comes from a hard-fought split decision win against Jacinta Austin at UAE Warriors 36 in February.

“It’s a huge opportunity for me, and I’m so stoked. I’ve been stoked for a long time, since I’ve known about the fight for three or four months,” Knutsson recently told Frontkick’s sister site Maximum Sports about the fight.

“My opponent has a background in striking, both in kickboxing, a bare-knuckle bout, a pro boxing bout, and I’ve got Muay Thai and kickboxing. So I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they matched us. They want an explosive fight. I definitely think it’s a fun fight.”

Verbeek is 4-1 and comes from a unanimous decision win against Melissa Oddessa Parker at Invicta FC 48.
