A highly interesting flyweight matchup between No. 6 ranked Alex Perez and No. 10 ranked Amir Albazi will take place at a UFC Fight Night event on December 17. The fight was first reported by MMA Fighting.
In November 2020, Perez fought for the UFC flyweight championship against Deiveson Figueiredo, but was submitted in the first round. In his most recent outing at UFC 277 in July, the top ranked flyweight was once again submitted, this time by Alexandre Pantoja who finished the fight with a rear-naked choke.
Amir Albazi is 15-1 with three straight wins in the UFC
Besides a loss in April 2019, Amir Albazi has won 15 of 16 his professional bouts and rides a four-fight win streak. In his most recent octagon appearance, he defeated Francisco Figueiredo, younger brother of the two-time UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, via a first-round submission at UFC 278.
In his short notice UFC debut back in July 2020, Albazi secured a first round submission win against Malcolm Gordon.
The location, venue and headline for the December 17 event is still to be announced. However, so far the card features a middleweight bout between Julian Marquez and Deron Winn as well as a bantamweight bout between Sergey Morozov and Journey Newson.
