Swedish powerhouse Anton Turkalj is ready for his UFC debut at the stacked UFC 279 on September 10. Frontkick’s sources confirm that the fight is booked and signed.

On short notice, Turkalj will face Jailton Almeida in a 220 lbs catchweight bout. Almeida was scheduled to face Shamil Aburkahimov, however the latter faced visa issues and had to withdraw from the fight.

Anton Turkalj won in Contender Series

In his last fight, Anton Turkalj defeated Acacio dos Santos at Dana White’s Contender Series in Las Vegas. Even though Brazil’s dos Santos landed some solid punches, the Swede controlled the fight with his grappling and won via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).The fight was the first in Turkkalj’s professional career that went the distance.

Anton Turkalj represents GBG Mac and has a professional record of 8-0 with seven stoppage wins.

UFC 279 features a highly anticipated welterweight main event between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz, as well as a welterweight co-main event between Tony Ferguson and Li Jingliang. The card also features a interesting fight between Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez.
