Former light heavyweight title contender Anthony Smith recently got robbed of his headline bout against Jamahal Hill, as the latter will fight Glover Teixeira for the vacant title.
However, Smith recently revealed that he will serve as the backup for the title bout at UFC 283 in January.
“I’m going to fly to Brazil,” Smith said. “I’m going to weigh in at 205 pounds. I don’t suspect that these guys are gonna have problems, they’re both professionals, but if something does happen, I’ll be there to step in.”
Smith last fought in July when he faced Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 277 in Dallas.
