A pivotal featherweight clash between Arnold Allen and Movsar Evloev is targeted for the UFC’s first pay-per-view of 2024, UFC 297. That’s according to MMA Fighting.
UFC 297 is expected to take place January 20 in Toronto. At this point there are no word of which venue that will host the event.
British MMA fighter Arnold Allen is currently ranked at No. 4 in the promotion’s featherweight division. After riding an impressive winning streak of ten straight victories in the UFC, he lost to former champion Max Holloway in the main event of April’s UFC Kansas City card.
During his time in the promotion he has so far beaten the likes of Calvin Kattar, Dan Hooker and Sodiq Yusuff.
Undefeated Movsar Evloev is currently ranked at No. 9 in the UFC featherweight division. He made his promotional debut back in April 2019 and so far won seven fights.
In his last bout he defeated Diego Lopes via unanimous decision in May 2023.
Last time the UFC visited Toronto was on December 8, 2018. At the time, Max “Blessed” Holloway was still the reigning featherweight king and defended his strap in a massive fight against Brian Ortega. The card took place at the Scotiabank Arena.
In the co-main event, women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defended her title against fomer strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
