UFC president Dana White commented on the change on social media.

Bryce Mitchell is replaced by Diego Lopes

No. 11 ranked Mitchell was originally scheduled to fight Jonathan Pearce at UFC 288, but Pearce withdrew due to injury last month. Undefeated Evloev stepped in as a replacement but will now face Diego Lopes instead.

Lopes will make his UFC debut on Saturday as he steps in on short notice. The 28-year-old holds a 21-5 record overall and has three wins in his past four fights.

UFC 288 takes place on Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The card is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion Aljamain Sterling and former two-division champion Henry Cejudo.

The card also lost its original co-main event as former Charles Oliveira was forced to pull out from his fight with No. 4 ranked Beneil Dariush last month. More information about UFC 288 here!
