Bantamweight title challenger Julianna Pena is out of the UFC 289 main event against Amanda Nunes due to broken ribs.

Mexican bantamweight Irene Aldana will step in to challenge Nunes for the title on July 10

UFC president Dana White broke the new Tuesday on social media.

“Irena Aldana is coming in. She won four out of her last five, and three of those were finishes. We could have another Mexican world champion,” White said.

Amanda Nunes defeated Pena to reclaim her title in her last fight at UFC 277 in July last year.

UFC 289 will take place on June 10, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.

The card features the pivotal lightweight bout between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush that was moved from UFC 288.
