Khamzat Chimaev wasted no time in the UFC 279 co-main event against Kevin Holland. The Swede immediately went for a takedown, grabbing a hold of his opponent and eventually forced him to tap.
At the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White opened up about Chimaev’s performance and future fights in the UFC.
”You don’t know what to expect from that guy. This is like his fourth fight that he’s never even taken a punch. He is an absolute fucking freak of nature. And I don’t think anybody expected that. Especially against Kevin who is six foot two,” White said.
Dana White: “That’s a problem that he missed weigh”
However, the UFC president admitted it could potentially be hard to put Chimaev, who struggled making 170 lbs, in a welterweight title fight.
“It’s a problem. That’s a problem that he missed weight. We have got to look at it and figure it out. What makes sense is for him to fight at 180 (lbs), so we’ll see,” White said.
“We knew he was going to miss weight. The doctors went to see him,” White said.
The win was undefeated Chimaev’s sixth in the UFC.
