While UFC builds up some rising stars slowly, they throw other prospects straight into the fire.
23-year-old Erin Blanchfield, who’s undefeated in the Octagon, most definitely falls into the second category.
In February, the young star will take on her toughest test to date as she is set to clash with former title contender Taila Santos, who’s the last to challenge Valentina Shevchenko for the belt.
Blanchfield herself announced the upcoming fight on “Morning Kombat”.
“I’ve signed a new four-fight deal and I signed to fight Talia Santos,” a confident Blanchfield said.
“I like to have a full camp so I can prepare for anybody, but as long as I have that I know I can beat anybody in the world.”
Erin Blanchfield made her promotional debut in September 2021, with a unanimous decision win against Sarah Alpar. She then moved on to defeat the tough Miranda Maverick and experienced JJ Aldrich
In her last fight at UFC 281 in November, the 23-year-old dominated hyped Molly McCann at Madison Square Garden, winning the fight via a first-round submission.
Blanchfield is currently ranked No. 10 in the flyweight division, while her next opponent is ranked No. 2.
Santos is 4-2 in the UFC and gave the dominant champion Shevchenko her toughest flyweight challenge to date at UFC 275 in June. After five tough rounds, the champion stood as the winner via split decision.
