“Like I promised I’ll announce big news on my channel. My next fight will be at 205, yeah you heard it right. My next fight will be at 205,” Pereira said. “I think I did my work at 185 and now I’m feeling good to go up to 205.”
Alex Pereira did nor reveal when, where or against who he intended to make his light heavyweight debut.
“Like I told you, when I’m feeling good I will go up. This will be something natural… and now I think it is. My next opponent I can’t tell you yet, but I will keep you updated here on my channel.”
The Brazilian striker comes from a tough second-round knockout loss against long-time rival Israel Adesanya at this past Saturday’s UFC 287.
“I’m going to light heavyweight because it’s a good option for me. But I’m sure, if I would stay in this division [middleweight] I can fight against him [Israel Adesanya] directly.”
Alex Pereira signed with the UFC on September 3, 2021, and defeated Andreas Michailidis in his promotional debut on November 6, 2021, at UFC 268.
