With 15 wins and 12 knockouts, Swedish professional heavyweight boxer Pezhman Seifkhani is a formidable force in the squared circle.

After losing his last fight against Awadh “Big Brother” Tamim on March 4, Seifkhani now looks to bounce back stronger than ever.

Recently visiting Sweden’s leading fighting podcast Käftsmällspodden, the heavyweight boxer revealed that he already has a rematch booked against his rival.

“The rematch is set. The deal was done yesterday. June 3 in Örebro,” Seifkhani said. “A lot of people want to fight Tamim now, since he got a good win. We had a rematch clause in the contract, so we thought we better take the rematch immediately. It’s not going to be a big fight, maximum 200 people. This fight is just to get the belt back.”

Pezhman Seifkhani lacked motivation

Before his bout with Tamim, Seifkhani did not feel like himself and talking to Käftsmällspodden he admitted that he took the fight way too lightly.

“The last few years I lacked a bit of motivation. After the pandemic I lost some motivation. I didn’t push myself as hard as I used to. I wasn’t as hungry as I’ve been before,” Seifkhani revealed. “A fighter from our team faced Tamim and beat him in the first round, so I thought ‘damn, this guy is no good’. Both me and my coach took the fight too lightly.”

“The fight was mine – he had nothing”

However, even though he did not prepare enough, Peshman Seifkhani was close to finishing the fight in front of his hometown crowd.

“The referee was shit. Any other referee would have stopped the fight. Tamim was completely gone. I was in the ring with him and I saw that he was gone, and I just poured it on. They have stopped fights before when I’ve beaten people that way. He was gone.”

After the debatable round, Tamim came back and was eventually able to win the fight.

“If I had lost because he was a better boxer that would have been fine, I would have went back to the gym and worked harder. But this win was taken away from me. The fight was mine, he had nothing.”

Ahead of the rematch on June 3, Peshman Seifkhani intends to show that he is the better of the two heavyweights, and will prepare smarter both in the gym and with the weight cut.

“Everything is 100 percent. The hunger is there. This time we will make it real!”
