PFL signs former UFC title contender: “Get ready for some firework”

After signing fomer UFC light heavyweigth contender Thiago Santos, PFL now signs another former UFC title contender in Marlon Moraes for the 2023 PFL season. That’s according to the Brazilian’s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

Moraes has competed in bantamweight for a decade, but signing with the promotion, he will now move up the featherweight again.

“Guys I wanna announce I’m coming home where I started, I wanna thank the legend Ray Sefo & PFL, get ready for some firework,” Moraes wrote on Twitter.

Marlon Moraes retired from the sport in April

On April 13, 2022 Marlon announced his retirement from MMA following a first-round knockout to Song Yadong. He ended his UFC career on a four-fight losing streak, but has wins against top dogs like José Aldo, Raphael Assunção and Jimmie Rivera, as well as a 67-second KO over current champion Aljamain Sterling, on his resume. All in all, the Brazilian fought eleven fights in the UFC, wiining five.

Marlon Moraes broke through in the World Series of Fighting, competing in the very first event back in 2012. He won all of his eleven fights in the organization and left the promotion for the UFC in 2017, after defending the WSOF title five times.

PFL also recently signed UFC fan favourite Shane Burgos.

“I went out there, I tested the free agency market, and I’m excited to announce that I’m signing with the PFL,” Burgos said a few weeks ago.
