According to several reports, Guram Kutateladze is out of his scheduled bout against Thiago Moises at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on January 21.

MMA news site AG Fight was first to report the news, and according to Maximum Sports, Kutateladze suffers an Staph infection that forces him out of the fight.

At this point, there is no word of whether Moises will remain on the card or if the fight will be rebooked.

Guram Kutateladze is 1-1 in the UFC

Guram Kutateladze has a promotional record of 1-1, with a total pro MMA record of 12-3, and is a rising star in the deep UFC lightweight division.

He won a gruelling promotional debut against former KSW double champ, and current No. 7 ranked, Mateusz Gamrot in October 2020. The highly entertaining back-and-forth battle was awarded with the Fight of the Night bonus.

In his last fight in June 2022, the “Georgian Viking” lost a razor-thin split decision to now retired Damir Ismagulov.

UFC 283 in Brazil is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between former champion Glover Teixeira and No. 7 ranked Jamahal Hill.

The co-main event features a flyweight title fight between big-time rivals Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. This will be the fourth time Figueiredo and Moreno face each other in the octagon.
