Undefeated Irish UFC welterweight Ian “The Future” Machado Garry is putting pressure on rival, three-time title challenger and divisional antagonist Colby “Chaos” Covington to accept a supposed fight contract.
The two rivals have been feuding for a long time now, going back-and-forth on social media. Covington is no stranger to getting personal and crossing the line with his trash talk and has taken aim at Garrys wife, amongst other subjects. This has set the stage for a potential bout between the two welterweights.
Now Garry claims to have signed a fight contract, based on a video posted to social media, no details have been specified, however.
“What’s up, everyone?” Garry said in the Instagram video. “It’s Tuesday the 9th of April at 10 past (1 pm). I have agreed to fight Colby Covington. There is a date in place, (but) Colby still hasn’t signed the contract.”

A modern grudge match unlike many others
Garry is 14-0 as a pro with half of those wins being secured in the UFC. In his most recent outing he won a split decision against Geoff Neal. One of few undefeated prospects in the UFC, Garry hopes to live up to his nick name “The Future”.
Covington stands with a 17-4 pro record but has gone 3-3 in his last six bouts. While all the losses have occurred against the reigning welterweight champion at the time, his most recent wins have been against now retired Jorge Masvidal and Tyron Woodley.
A fight between Garry and Covington would be huge, the build up alone would surely pull numbers, it remains to be seen if the supposed fight contract is real – and if both parties sign it.
